Conflux is the 71st set in Magic: The Gathering and the second set in the Shards of Alara block.

It contains a total of 145 Cards, including 10 Mythic Rares, 35 Rares, 40 Uncommons, and 60 Commons.
It was released February 6, 2009 with launch parties scheduled that same weekend. Official previews are scheduled to start on January 19. a spoiler was released from Japan online around January 7.
Story[]
The five shards of Alara were separated during the sundering. Now, the miniature planes have started to drift together around a star of all five mana colors. The shards each start to overlap each other where they share mana: for instance, Naya overlaps Jund, because they both share red and green. Grixis would overlap Jund because it share red and black. On ther other side, Grixis would over lap Esper because they both contain black and blue. Any shards that share two-colors, will overlap. to show this, there are now Borderland cards to show those borders and help in the playing of the new massive 5-color cards.
As part of this, Wizards of the Coast released the supreme power: Progenitus. It is a five colored Avatar. It is the only card to have Protection from everything!
"Protection from everything" means the following:
- Progenitus can't be blocked.
- Progenitus can't be enchanted or equipped.
- Progenitus can't be the target of spells or abilities.
- All damage that would be dealt to Progenitus is prevented.
